How To Build A Powerful, Loyal Team
I hear it all the time. . .
I hear it all the time. How do you find team members? How do you find good team members? How do you ensure that they “get it”?How do you ensure that they actually stay? How do you build a team with ease instead of having it being one big headache?
Let’s take a breather for a second,Team building can be easy,And it can be FUN.
Your team is your family,It’s your tribe that are committed to bringing your vision to life.
And generally,They’re the people that you’re going to be spending a lot of your day talking to,So you may as well get this right.
Below is the exact process that I go through,To ensure that I have an amazing, high-level team,Who love and adore my vision,And who are excited about bringing it to life!
STEP 1: START WITHIN
Yes – you guessed it!Team building starts within!Just like success, money, opportunities,Team building is no different. If you are not crystal clear on exactly who you need around you,Then guess what? The world’s going to give you exactly that:Someone who you’re not clear about.
If you don’t step up and claim what you want,Chances are you will never get it.I see too many people hoping, wishing and praying when it comes to building their team,Instead of doing the internal work required.
The first thing I start with when calling in team members is this:Getting clear on your big vision.
Sit down and write out the answers to these questions:What is my ultimate big vision reality? What kind of things am I going to need in place in order to bring that vision to life? What kind of people do I want supporting me in my vision? (Be extremely detailed here!)What do I expect of my team? What have I not thought about in regards to building a powerful team that is important to me?
STEP 2: GET CLEAR ON WHAT NEEDs to be DONE NOW
I hear a lot of people saying that they don’t know where to start with building a team? What do I get them to do?What do they do first? How do I know when to get them to do these things?
NOW — is the answer to the last question…Don’t be one of those people who builds a reactive team. They grow too fast, and have to react by putting team members in place to put the fires out.Cut to the chase, and whenever you find things that other people could be doing to accelerate your vision,Get people to do just that!
Here’s where I suggest you start.Draw a line down the middle of a blank piece of paper.Title one side:All the things in my life that I’m not good at:On the other side:All the things in my life that I don’t like doing:Then make the list.
Next, you want to circle anything that comes up on both lists. These are the things that are a priority to get done first.
Now,Go out and find people to complete those tasks!
STEP 3: CREATE A CULT TEAM CULTURE AND VISION
Now that you have some team members who are implementing your vision,The real key right now is to actually build a team.
Understand this:People want to belong. They want to be a part of something. They want to fit in.They also want to grow. They want a certain amount of variety. They want love and connection. They want certainty. And they also want a little bit of uncertainty.
Your job, as the visionary,Is to truly understand each of your team members,And where they fit on each on those scales. Then naturally,Give them what they need.
This is the most important thing about team building:I could literally charge thousands of dollars to tell you this, but here we go:If someone’s needs are 100% met and satisfied,They will never leave you.I mean,Why would they…
So the task is simple:Meet their needs(If you want them to stick around of course!!)
Work at ways to not only meet the individual needs of your team members,But to also create an amazing team culture,Where your team members love being a part of it.
Team building is fun.Team building is necessary for business.Team building is a critical part of growth and scaling.
Just remember,It ALL starts within and it all starts with YOU!Take responsibility.
And of course,
You Absolutely Can Have it all
