Stop Doing What You're Not Good At!
Are you a SOLOPRENEUR?
Solopreneurs work for themselves and are in no rush to build a team because they are not yet ‘in the space’ where they feel that they can either trust or delegate tasks to team members.
The solo part of the word defines it perfectly. So often I see in my clients where they have built a thriving, online business that is flourishing and growing and they are reluctant to give up any control over their creation.
Or an ENTREPRENEUR?
However, in my opinion, this is a recipe for stagnation and an active stunting of any growth or forward movement. You see, an integral part of growing a 7 - 8 figure business is to grow an entrepreneurial team with you. It’s about keeping your brand fresh and up-to-the-minute, surrounding yourself with a team who are dedicated to and invested in keeping your brand and concepts moving forward.
This way the entrepreneur is able, when the day to day tasks are undertaken by others, to be more creative and focus on business and product development. It allows the entrepreneur the time to view global tendencies and constantly monitor where their brand sits within where the world is trending. This way, the brand continues to grow and move in-line with what clients are wanting. It keeps the business relevant.
Control freak?
Multi-tasking is all very well, and of course, when we commence our journey into an on-line, or any sort of business, we are always the ultimate multi-taskers. However, have you considered, with an open and truly honest evaluation, your strengths and weaknesses? We all have things that we are good at, we all have things that we just simply are, honestly, poor at. It isn't a matter of always upskilling yourself. If you are a time poor, resource-stretched start-up, then the best policy is always to do your research and align yourself with the individual best placed to take those tasks that you are not strong in and implement them at the best professional level….this way, your brand retains its integrity and its professionalism. It’s also a win-win, because as you work alongside that individual with the intellectual property that you are weak in, your learning steps up. My best advice is to let go, delegate and reap the rewards that more focussed time will inevitably bring.
What about trust..?
Sure. I’m not saying that you give your team open slather with your carefully nurtured baby. Choose your projects and choose your individuals carefully, again, it is the time invested into those aligned professionals that will reap the rewards. I have certainly had experiences on my journey to building an 8-figure business, where I have been heartily disappointed in people’s behaviour, even to the point that I felt it was a personal betrayal. Let go. It’s all part of the learning and it is all part of the knowledge and development. And, take my words here, once you have been the recipient of a breach of trust, you will be able to spot it a mile away, next time. The growth of a thriving, contemporary, relevant business is a journey and we don't always get it spot on each and every time. Multitasking may protect you from some of these unwelcome, random events, however, it is not an efficient or sustainable way to grow your business. When we try to do everything on our own, we limit ourselves.
Move forward and accelerate your growth
The journey of growing your business is a lot more fun and rewarding when you are surrounded with a dedicated team that shares your vision. When we delegate tasks to our trusted experts, we give our brand and our business the attention it rightly deserves.
