A Letter To My Younger Self

Do you ever have those moments of reflection, where you find yourself looking backwards with 20/20 hindsight?

It catches you unawares sometimes and you think ‘Gosh…. What was I getting so uptight about? And gee, if I knew then what I know now….how many different paths might I have taken? How many opportunities might I have taken?’

When I reflect back on the last decade of my life, if I could write a letter to my younger self, this is what I would write…

Dear Regan,

You are in the process of blooming. Even though you don't fully recognise it quite yet, there is a massive shift occurring in your life. This shift will bring you some pain and some mis-givings and you will doubt yourself sometimes...however, those insecurities will bring you knowledge and they will allow you to tap into a fund of incredible insight that will serve you well in the future.

You will face heartbreak…..

in love and friendships and these will hurt you deeply, but, again those experiences will give you the knowledge and the insight to realise and recognise true love and true friendship when they cross your path.

Sometimes, you will feel incredibly alone….

but you actually aren't. You are surrounded by love. And, it is a love of an extraordinarily powerful kind. It is there from family, your partner and your friends and it is constant and enduring.

You are beautiful, so hold your body gently and do not go into battle with it, trying to ‘better’ it or ‘remake’ it or ‘modify’ it. Know that it is sacred and beautiful. Treat it kindly and always see to it’s welfare. 

Also, go easy on yourself. 

Treat yourself and your psyche kindly. Even though you may be cross with yourself at times, speak kindly to yourself. Those deep insecurities that are present in you right now will shape you into the woman you are meant to be...and this is a good and worthy person, whose moral compass is well set and will serve you well.

Know also that you are going to make an impact, you are here for a reason, so keep going, and

embrace the journey…….including the hard parts. The universe loves you and wants the very best for you.

You were born with wings and you are going to soar.
